Notes  Michael Fordney, "a native of France and a descendant of the old Hugenots or French Protestants, was born probably as early as 1745. In 1768 he, with others moved to America and settled in Virginia while others of his father's family settled in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. Not finding the new settlement altogether to his wishes, besides being far removed from his co-religionists, he, in later years, moved to Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, where he died a middle aged man. Not much information pertaining to his family could be obtained. We know of two children who in later years came to Canada and settled in Waterloo County, Ontario. Their names were Jacob and Elizabeth."
