Jacob Fordney, "son of Michael Fordney, was born in Virginia, May 18th, 1781. When a young boy his parents moved to Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, where he was raised. At about the close of the last century he was married to Catharine Baker and after her decease to Elizabeth Muma who was born December 12th, 1794, and died December 15th, 1840. Some time during the beginning of the present century they, with others, moved to Canada and settled in Waterloo County, Ontario, on the west bank of the Grand River,(Their old farm is now in possession of Robert Bricknell) a little below the 'Toll Bridge' where he died May 14th, 1852. His family consisted of nine children, of whom the eldest two were born unto his first wife. Their names are as follows:" |
