Notes  John S. Brubacher, "(known as Cooper Brubacher) son of Abraham and Mary (Sherk) Brubacher, was born in Juniata County, Pennsylvania, U.S., August 12th, 1807. In 1828 he came to Canada and took up land along the Conestogo River. His farm was composed of lot No. 40, German Company's Tract, Woolwich Township, about one mile west of St. Jacobs. Here they resided until his death which took place October 1st, 1887. On November 24th, 1830, he was married to Elizabeth Burkhard who was born in Lancaster county, Pennsylvania, November 9th, 1808. She came to Canada with her parents when about 12 years of age and died June 23rd, 1881. They had a family of ten children, viz:"
