Notes  Samuel Horst, "(His father was a distant relative to old Christian and David Horst) son of David and Leah (Mosser) Horst, was born in Canarvon Township, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania (Did not receive date of moving to Canada), October 30th, 1841. He was first married to Mary Ann, daughter of Henry Martin of Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. She was born September 23rd, 1842, and died January 3rd, 1872. On October 27th, 1872, he was again married to Magdalena, daughter of John S. and Elizabeth (Burkhart) Brubacher. She was the widow of the late Michael Brubacher (See No. 1489 for full information). She was born April 12th, 1850. They reside about three miles west of St. Jacobs. Mr. Horst has a family of seven children, the eldest four of whom were born in Aldborough Township, Elgin County, near Clachan P.O., while the younger three were born in Woolwich Township, Waterloo County, near St. Jacobs. Their names are as follows:"
