Notes  Joseph Shantz, "was born February 13th, 1851. On February 13th, 1877, he was married to Nancy Shantz. Some time after their marriage they moved near Hespeler where she died March 13th, 1885. On March 9th, 1887, he was again married to Magdalena Snyder, widow of the late Alfred Simpson. They reside near Hespeler, Ontario, where he is engaged in farming. To him and his first wife were born two sons,...."
