Notes  John Shirk, "was born November 23rd, 1796. He was first married to Mary Thornton and after her decease to Polly Adams, and resided on the farm now owned by Conrad Gremm (on the west side of the Grand River, near Breslau), near Noah Betzner's, thence moved to Blair, and from there to Blenheim Township where he died (His death was caused by falling into the gearing of a horsepower while thrashing) about the year 1843. His family consisted of several children, namely:..."
