Notes  John G. Stauffer, "was born near Preston, Ontario, December 8th, 1824. On December 3rd, 1851, he was married to Lucinda, daughter of Samuel and Elizabeth (Gabel) Hammacher. She was born near Wilmot Centre, Waterloo County, Ontario, September 6th, 1834. They resided in Oxford County, three miles south of Plattsville, Ontario, where he died December 5th, 1887. After his decease Mrs. Stauffer moved to Berlin where she is residing at present. Their family consisted of eight children, viz:"
