Notes  John S. Brubacher, "son of Jacob S. and Magdalena (Shelley) Brubacher, was born in Monroe Township, Juniata County, Pennsylvania, September 16th, 1843. In August, 1864, he came to Canada and had his home with his uncle, John S. Brubacher (Cooper Brubacher), by whom he was engaged for six or seven months, thence he engaged himself to his cousin, Michael B. Brubacher, where he remained for some time. His next place was with his uncle, Abraham Brubacher, thence with Christian Martin. From Christian Martin's he went to Joseph Weber's where he remained for six years. On March 24th, 1873, he was married to Anna Edy who was born in the town of Berlin, March 24th, 1854. In 1875 he rented the farm from Joseph Weber for eleven years. After the decease of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Weber he purchased the farm and has resided there ever since. They have a family of six children, viz:"
