Notes  Andrew Kauffman, "was born in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, February 1st, 1804. When a young man he came to Canada and settled in Waterloo County, several miles south-east of Berlin, near Centreville on the farm now possessed by John Erb, from here they moved to Preston where he died December 7th, 1858. He was married to Magdalena, daughter of John and Magdalena (Schrantz) Erb. She was born at Preston, Ontario, July 18, 1810, and died near Erbsville, at the home of her daughter Caroline (Mrs. Knarr), February 20th, 1883. To them was born a family of twelve children, viz:"
