Notes |
Michael Kauffman, "(From 'Biographical History of Lancaster Co., Pa.' by Alex. Harris) a native of Greenstadt, Hesse, on the upper Rhine, emigrated to America between the years 1710 and 1819 and settled in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, but in what part of the county is not now known. He died a few years after his arrival, leaving a widow and a family of two children, namely: John and Elizabeth. The guardian of these children bought of William Penn's commissioner a considerable tract of land in the vicinity now known as Landisville, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, where John Kauffman settled. All that is known of Elizabeth is that she was married to Christian Stoneman December 12th, 1734. The said John Kauffman lived near Landisville, Lancaster
County, Pennsylvania where he had a family of three sons, namely: Christian, Michael, and John." |
