Notes  David Shantz, "was born in Montgomery County, Pennsylvania, March 7th, 1787. In 1809 he came to Canada and settled on part of lot No. 1, German Company's Tract, township and county of Waterloo, Ontario, where he resided until his death which took place April 8th, 1879. He was married to Elizabeth Pannebecker (See Cornelius Pannebecker's family for information) who was born July 16th, 1793, and died of cancer December 1st, 1863. They had no family but had adopted seven children who they raised save one who died in infancy."
