Notes  Eli C. Shantz, "was born January 23rd, 1816. On May 5th, 1840, he was married to Anna, daughter of John and Esther (Wismer) Cressman. She was born November 18th, 1820. Soon after their marriage they moved on the farm now in possession of their son, John C., where they resided many years. In his old age Mr. Shantz divided his large estate into two farms and had new buildings erected on the east end, to which place he moved some fifteen years ago. He died September 19th, 1889 leaving a large family, viz:"
