Notes  John C. Shantz, "the fourth child, was born in Waterloo County, one and one-half miles south of Berlin, October 23rd, 1807. On January 12th, 1833, he was married to Anna Detweiler who was born March 8th, 1816 and died in Wilmot Township, February 17th, 1856. They had a family of twelve children, viz:"
