Notes  Samuel Burkholder, "the third son of Christian Burkholder, was born in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, January 2nd, 1816, came to Canada when two years of age, and was raised at Waterloo where he resided until September, 1873 then moved to Marion County, Kansas, where he died March 13th, 1893. He was a mason and bricklayer by trade. He was first married, October 12th, 1845, to Susannah Diller who died January 2nd, 1848, at Waterloo, Ontario. On February 17th, 1850, he was married to Eva Reis who died in Kansas, March 29th, 1893. They had a family of six children, viz:"
