"The "Burkards" are natives of Switzerland from whence the old progenitor, I Joseph Burkhart, emigrated about the year 1751. He settled among his co-religionists in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. No other information has been received in regard to his birth, death, to whom he was married, nor about his family. All we know is that one of his sons was named Peter." |
