Notes  Samuel Bowers, "was a native of Northumberland County, Pennsylvania. In 1815 he was married to Lydia Sauers, and in 1825 they moved to Canada and settled in Waterloo County, Ontario, near the town of Berlin. Their old home is now owned by the heirs of the late Mr. Richart. To them was born a family of eleven children, viz:"
