When about seventeen years of age he attended the High School and in a year thereafter passed the teachers' examination for the province of Ontario. For ten years he was engaged as a public school teacher, after which time he found teaching not altogether to his taste, he resigned his position as principal of the Preston public schools and directed his attention to the profession of dentistry. In due time he received the degree of L. D. S. and soon after the degree of D. D. S. from the Toronto University. Immediately after passing his examinations he bought an established business in Galt, Ontario, where he has since been engaged in his profession and is, according to report, doing an extensive and remunerative business. On October 12th, 1886, he was married to Jennie Hunter. His family consists of two children, namely: Leslie Clare and Alice Maud."
