Notes  David Devitt, "was born January 7th, 1838. He was first married to Barbara Shantz who died in February, 1879. They resided at Port Elgin, and had a family of seven children, all of whom are dead except one daughter, named Barbara, who is now about twenty-one years of age. After the decease of his first wife, he was again married to Susannah Shantz. This union was blessed with two children, one of whom is dead. The one living, a son named Isaiah, is about thirteen years old. After the decease of his second wife he was married to Nancy Hallman. They have one daughter named Myra. They still reside on a farm near Port Elgin, Bruce County, Ontario."
