Notes  John Jones, "was a native of Chester County, Pennsylvania, where he was born December 27th, 1794. He was of English parentage and his forefathers belonged to the Society of Friends. When a young man Mr. Jones came to Canada and settled near Preston where he was soon married to Martha, daughter of John Philip and Veronica (Gingerich) Saltzberger. She was born October 20th, 1808, and died in Blenheim Township, Oxford County, February 14th, 1885. They resided in different places of Waterloo and Oxford Counties, Ontario. He died October 30th, 1859. To them was born a family of fifteen children, viz:"
