Notes  Samuel Shelly, "was born in Butler County, Pennsylvania, in 1793. He was married to Polly Bechtel who was born in 1798 and died in 1871. She was a cousin to the Rev. Joseph Bechtel of this county (See No. 645). He followed farming. They resided on his father's old homestead in Butler County where he died in 1825. To them was born a family of four children, viz:"
