Notes  Levi Stauffer, "the only son of Joseph and Rebecca (Rosenberger) Stauffer, was born September 19th, 1839. He has always been engaged in the avocation of his forefathers, that of agriculture. He is the owner of two beautiful farms, one of which was his father's old homestead and the other is the old 'Beatty' or 'Hechedon' farm. He has been manager of the North Waterloo Farmers Mutual Fire Insurance Company for upwards of fifteen years, and is one of the most prominent members of the United Brethren Church. He is in sympathy with the Liberal cause of that body. On November 27th, 1859, he was married to Esther, daughter of John and Judith (Bingeman) Snider. They reside on the old homestead about two miles west of the town of Waterloo. To them was born a family of ten children, viz:"
