Notes  Joseph G. Martin, "was born in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, May 13th, 1800, and came to Canada in 1820. On May 12th, 1835, he was married to Elizabeth, daughter of John and Anna (Hackman) Gingerich. She was born April 7th, 1809, and died July 14th, 1851. She was first married to Joseph Burkhard with whom she had two sons named John and Peter, (See Joseph Burkhard's family) and after his death she was married to Joseph G. Martin. After their marriage they moved on lot No. 2, German Company's Tract, Woolwich Township, where they resided until about the year 1848, then they moved on part of lot No. 101, Woolwich Township, about a mile south of Floradale, where she died. After her decease he was married again to Catharine Boehler. No issue of second marriage. He died March 14th, 1868. His family consisted of five children, viz:"
