Notes  Menno S. Hallman, "was born December 26th, 1857. He spent some of his younger days in teaching school. After quitting the teaching profession he commenced the book and stationery business in Berlin. After disposing of this business he entered the printing business and is now engaged with Mr. Bean in the Chronicle office, Waterloo. He was married to Sarah Anthes. They resided in Berlin where she died, leaving one child named Lizzie Hilda."
