Notes  Jacob B. Gingerich, "was born June 13th, 1840. He was first married to Mary, daughter of Rev. David and Elizabeth (Betzner) Sherk. She was born February 4th, 1837. They resided on the old "Sherk Farm" on the east bank of the Grand River, opposite the village of Doon where she died May 3rd, 1866. After her decease he was married to Elizabeth Sherk, sister to his first wife. She was born July 27th, 1845. On July 1st, 1878, he was ordained as a minister of the Mennonite body for the Hagey and Wanner field of labor. He is a good man and a diligent worker for the Master, and is very liberal in his views in regard to the plan of salvation. As a minister he is very popular on his fields of labor. Of first wife there was one son named David (dead). Of second union there were ten children..."
