Notes  Jacob B. Hagey, "was born January 25th, 1851. His boyhood days were spent on the farm, assisting in doing the work generally allotted to the juvenile class. When past the half of the 'teens' he commenced to attend the Freeport Academy. Soon thereafter he passed the teachers' examination for the county of Waterloo. When eighteen years of age he commenced life as a public school teacher and has followed it up to the present. He has been remarkably successful in his calling. At present he is engaged in the Lexington school and resides in the town of Waterloo where he owns a beautiful home. He is married to Susannah Lehman and has a family of three children, namely: John Wesley who is engaged with a dentist in Stratford, Ida, and Nellie."
