Description	Found in Waterloo County, (Ontario, Canada) the colour used on this chair is a departure from traditional black enamel. Painted yellow and freehand detailing, the crest rail is painted in a floral and leaf motif (green, red and white); outlined with double striping in green. The rails and posts are outlined in green pintriping with a leaf motif at the tops of the posts. Simple "H" pattern leg construction, the front rung is tapered towards the ends. Fronts of the legs have three bands of green detailing. The entire chair: seat, posts, rails, spindles, legs and rungs employ dowel construction. Handwritten on the bottom of the seat is "F.B. Shantz". A top quality design should have: arched, front-flattened posts and arrows, a step-down crest rail, a deeply saddled single-slab seat, and well splayed legs.
