Shantz, Orpheus M.
Early: 1922 - Late: 1922
A memento made from a piece of fungus material that was originally adhered to the bark of a tree. This has been cracked off, and its smooth surface etched/painted with hand printing: Together for Sunday Dinner / Heavy Snow Storm / January 1 - 1922 - First visit by Ory (Orpheus Moyer Schantz) in winter since leaving home - Oct. 10 - 1881 (some of this is illegible & a best guess) / Tobias Schantz - 79 yrs / Mary Schantz - 81 yrs / Orpheus / Sophie / Frank / Florence / Dorothy / 15 (deg.) above / Zero. Below the printing is a design of coniferous trees that more or less follows the configuration of the fungus.
