Description	A lined notebook head "...dated May 24th 1878 copyed by D.B. Shantz." It has many handwritten recipes for dyeing buttons various shades of black, grey, blue and brown. Associated with the Shantz Button Company. M.B.S. was in all likelihood Moses B. Shantz, Dilman B. Shantz's older brother.
Provenance	Moses B. Shantz, older brother of Dilman B. Shantz, was also in the button business in Berlin, and went on to establish a plant in Rochester, New York. The family also had a button busines in Buffalo, New York.
