Description	Notice of departure and arrival for Abraham D. Clemens. A partial translation of text is: "Abraham D. Clemens left Pennsylvania on the 11th day of May 1825, and arrived in Waterloo on the 31st of May 1825. Oh beloved: we depart. . . . Each one who has his heart. . . . May they weep with me, out of love". The text has two red, yellow, blue and green tulip buds with green leaves on either side of it. On the top of the text is two more tulips painted n bright yellow, blue, red and green. There was more decoration at the bottom, but this piece is missing.

Provenance	This work may have been done by Abraham's father, Abraham S. Clemens (1790-1867) or another Fraktur artist. It is not likely that Abraham did this Fraktur himself, as he would only have been twelve. Abraham D. Clemens (1813-1887) was the son of deacon Abraham S. Clemens. His family left Pennsylvania in 1825 and settled in Waterloo County, just west of Breslau. Abraham D. Clemens married Veronica Shantz (1813-1887). They resided on a farm at Wiiliamsburg (now within the City of Kitchener), where he died. They had nine children: Mary, Jacob S. Susannah, Rachel, Joseph, Lydia, Veronica Ann, Abraham S., and Noah S.
