Description
A cherrywood desk with heart motif on the lid into which is inlaid "Moses Eby 1817." The inlaid design work consists of stars, geometrical borders and hearts, which are probably maple and walnut. The name/date inlay appears to be a putty-like substance packed into a grooved outline of the letters and numbers. Other secondary woods used in the drawers and back are pine and plywood. Drawer knobs are replacements. The original pulls were probably metal as on the inside of the desk area behind the slant-top. There are small plugs to each side of the knobs indicating where the metal pulls were fastened.
