Description
A fragment of a quilt top in the "Chimney Sweep" pattern. Most squares are done with a central X of white background with small blue, black or floral motif, surrounded by an outline of pink background floral prints. This order is reversed in two corner blocks which may indicate that the quilt was to have been extended at one end with equivalent contrasting blocks in the other two corners. Blocks are separated by sets of red and white dotted fabric with squares of floral print at intersections. There is no border. A combination of hand backstitch and machine sewing was done in no apparent order.
