Curatorial Comments
A very similar papercut made by Barbara Brubacher in the mid-19th century is pictured in Michael S. Bird's Ontario Fraktur, A Pennsylvania-German Folk Tradition in Early Canada (Toronto: M.F. Feheley Publishers, 1977), p. 102. This papercut features the motif of a two-headed bird and the acrostic preayer, "O Edles Herz Bedenk Dein End" (OEHBDDE) - "O Noble Heart, Consider Thy Destiny."
