Description	A photocopy of the Last Will and Testament of Joseph Snider of Waterloo including an Appraisement of Goods and Chattels. It is dated July 5, 1838, was filed December 21, 1843 and registered December 22, 1843 as Memorial 405 B "upon the oath of Charles H. Ahrens, in Liber b Folio 609 No. of Memorial 405." Note that all three spellings of the last name were used in this document – Snyder, Snider and Schneider. Mentioned specifically by name are Joseph’s wife, Barbara, and two sons, Joseph E. and Moses E. Snider. The daughters are mentioned but not named. The executors of the will are his son, Jacob E. Snider, and son-in-law, Jacob L. Shoemaker. The will was witnessed by Charles A. Ahrens, George L. Bechtel and Peter Winger. The Appraisement of Goods and Chattels was made on November 3, 1843 and appraised by Isaac Schantz, senior, yeoman, and Christian Enslin, bookbinder. Also included are a statement acknowledging that Jacob S. Shoemaker and Jacob E. Snider were members of the Society of Menonists and a statement by Charles H. Ahrens attesting to the validity of the will. An original copy of the Probate of the Will of Joseph Snider is in the Private Collection of Rev. Jim Reusser. The will and accompanying documents was printed in M.H. Snyder's book Hannes Schneider ... Their Descendants and Times 1534-1939, pages 101-107.
