Category Artifacts Year Early: 1823 - Late: 1823 Description Colourful, very detailed drawing of ellipses and faces. The drawing is contained in a yellow, blue, and red striped border, with red and blue dots. Near the bottom there are two birds with red heads and wings, and green bodies. The date "1823" is also drawn in red and green near the bottom. There is a face at the top and bottom of the drawing in the middle. Between these is a "sun" in red, with a face in the middle of it. The letters "A. C. are drawn on either side of the sun. There are two more birds at the top, but these have yellow heads and wings, and red bodies. Starting at the bottom are two multi-coloured stems, which cross each other twice, once at the bottom, and again at the top, and end in two yellow and red tulips. On either side there are more multi-coloured flowers, which grow from the same stems as the tulips, and cross each other near the top, to end in two more, yellow and red tulips. Under the bottom face there is a geometric design. Large pieces of this Fraktur are missing. Maker\Attribution Abraham C. Clemens Provenance This piece is believed to have been drawn for or by Abraham Clemens. It could be either Abraham S. Clemens (1790-1867) or Abraham C. Clemens (1803- ??), or Abraham D. Clemens (1813-1877). The family oral history for this Fraktur, says that it was done by a nine year old boy.
